DESCRIPTION
Jack is 5’2” and slender, but not unhealthily skinny. She has short dirty blonde hair, which is naturally dark brown. Her large, dark brown eyes give her a younger appearance, as do her petite, delicate features. Although she has been told all of her life that she has a beautiful and contagious smile, she tries not to draw attention to her mouth and rarely wears lipstick.
Her face is very expressive, so it’s not generally very difficult to figure out what she’s feeling. She is easily flustered and quick to express so, but she’s typically a happy person and never hesitates to smile if she feels like it, although she is also a very self-conscious person and has a tendency to hide her mouth when she smiles or laughs.
She generally dresses in a mix between casual and professional and always has a white lab coat with her picture id badge clipped on the front while at work. She hates doing laundry and it becomes very obvious when laundry day is approaching, as her wardrobe becomes t-shirts and jeans as she avoids the washing machine for as long as possible. She prefers wearing her hair down, and although it’s short, it still manages to fall in her face while she’s working and she will eventually give up and pin it back.
She is a smoker, even though as a medical professional, she knows better. She keeps a pack of cigarettes tucked into the front pocket of her lab coat. She made it a habit of keeping her lighter in her bra because inmates at her previous job had a tendency to steal it from her when she wasn’t paying attention.
She doesn’t have any notable visible scars, but her pale skin tends to bruise easily, so due to her clumsiness, she always has more than a few bruises visible on her arms and legs at any given time.

`AND I CANT PRETEND I DONT SEE THIS
it's really not your fault
when no one cares to talk about it
when no one cares to talk about it
JACK DISLIKES Being clumsy. People who harp on the dangers of smoking. Religious fanatics. Living on a budget. Being as self-conscious as she is. Needles in her own arms; sticking them in her patients is fine. Doctors who treat nurses like lesser beings. People who claim to be vegetarians but eat chicken. Having trust issues with men.
HOBBIES Jack’s grandmother left her a beautiful grand piano when she passed away and Jack has been, unfortunately rather unsuccessfully, been trying to learn to play it.
She has a rather large collection of crime novels, of which she is an avid fan, which she very much enjoys reading. She goes on a weekly bookstore trip to purchase more and is always on the lookout for first editions to add to her collection.
To get through the day, she makes up stories about the people around her in her head to amuse herself and she writes them down during her free time. Her writing isn’t all that great, of which she’s well aware, but it’s something she enjoys doing.
Jack enjoys discovering and listening to new bands, although she tends to stick with her favourites.
She loves going to the flea market and has made a game out of taking only ten dollars with her and seeing what kind of fascinating item she can purchase with it.
She keeps a deck of tarot cards in her desk drawer and is trying to learn what all of the cards mean without having to look them up in her guidebook.
Also, she holds on to all of her fortunes that she gets from fortune cookies while eating Chinese food and keeps a large collection of them in a small, wooden box on her desk.

OVERALL PERSONALITY[/b]
▪ Jack is a generally happy person and while she may become stressed out and flustered easily, it’s just as easy for her to turn things around and become happy again. While affected by the little things immediately, she soon easily brushes them off and recovers quickly. She tries not to let things affect her in the long run and does her best not to dwell in the past.
She isn’t one to hold grudges, which is a good trait to have when one works in a prison atmosphere. Unfortunately, try as she might, she has a lasting mistrust of men due to an event at her previous place of employment. It’s something that she’s working on though, but she still finds herself uncontrollably shying away from males. She can, however, still learn to trust them on an individual basis.
Although seeming very carefree, Jack is very self-conscious. She’s very uncomfortable with her mouth and automatically covers it whenever she laughs and often times even when she just smiles. She always wears her lab coat or a long jacket to hide herself within. She gets very embarrassed if anyone comments on her smile, even if it’s a compliment.
She has been plagued by clumsiness all of her life. She often trips over her own feet and spends a large part of her day picking up things that she has either dropped or accidentally knocked over. She stresses out if she’s in a room with lots of expensive-looking breakable items and keeps her arms folded over her chest in an attempt to keep from knocking anything over. When pulling up medications contained in glass vials she will, no matter how odd it appears, sit on the floor to minimize her chance of dropping and shattering them. She has a separate savings account at her bank to set aside money for the occasion that she has to replace someone’s belonging that she managed to mangle in some way.
Due to her love of crime novels, working in a prison atmosphere is very appealing to her. She feels as though working there is just like living inside of her very own novel. She is not generally turned off by her patient’s misdeeds, no matter how horrible they may be. She knows that their psychiatric and medical issues are not their fault and tries very hard to judge them by how they treat her, not by what they’ve done in the past.
She enjoys the company of other people, but doesn’t need to surround herself with a large amount of friends. She is perfectly content to spend her time alone or with others, though she doesn’t consider herself to be a loner by any means. All in all, she really likes helping people and will go out of her way to do so if she feels strongly enough about their situation.

`IF YOU THINK I'D LEAVE THEN YOU WERE WRONG
cause i wont stop holding on
▪ On May 22nd, 1982, Jacqueline Olivia Evans was born in Saint-Étienne, France to proud parents, Aurora and Raffaele Evans. Her brother was 9 years old at the time and her sister was 6 years old. Raffaele met Aurora while on vacation in France and although they moved to New York after they were married, it was very important to Aurora that her children have dual citizenship with both the United States and France, so each of their children were born there.
The Evans children had a relatively happy childhood. Their parents loved each other and their children very much. Their summers were typically spent in France or Italy, learning all about their heritage. Her brother, Lucas speaks both French and Italian fluently and her sister, Jeanne Marie speaks French fluently and some Italian. Jack, however, while being able to understand both languages moderately well, is simply awful at speaking Italian and can just barely muddle through speaking French. This was just part of her failure to become a ‘proper lady’ like her Grandmama would have liked.
Trouble came to paradise, though; when Jack was 13, Lucas came home from university over the winter holidays and announced to the family that he was gay. The females of the family were far more accepting than Raffaelle, who despite his wife’s protests, could not deal with his only son being gay. This tore an irreparable rift through the family, which goes on to this day. As a result, while Jack speaks to her mother on the phone on a weekly basis, she only speaks to her father on holidays. She also speaks with Jeanne Marie on a weekly basis, but is closest to Lucas, whom she speaks with several times a week.
Jack, who has always been somewhat awkward, took great interest in the study of Sociology and even went to university to study it, achieving a Bachelors Degree after three years. However, before she could enroll to continue her education in Sociology, she became gravely ill with Bacterial Meningitis and nearly succumbed to the illness. During her hospital stay, she was treated by a phenomenal nurse, known only to her as Rosa. After she recovered, the lingering impression of compassion that Rosa left on her caused Jack to pursue a career as a nurse instead.
She went back to school and entered a Direct Entry MSN Program which allowed her to study for and receive her Masters Degree in Nursing after three years. She then passed the NCLEX-RN, the test that licensed her as a registered nurse. She then returned to enter an advanced nursing education program in Adult Health and after two years, she finally received her certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Directly out of school, Jack began working at Five Points Correctional Facility, a men’s maximum security prison in Romulus, NY.
Though she loved her job, merely six months after she began working there, Jack was cornered by three inmates during the guards’ shift change. They beat and raped her, one after the other and then left her there to be found by one of the guards. She spent the next several weeks in the hospital and when she had recovered enough to return to work, she found that she could not force herself to enter the building and was forced to resign from the job.
However, determined to not only make a fresh start but to also continue her mission to utilize all of her education and skills to help people, Jack moved to Michigan and got a job at Michigan State where she can hopefully do just that.
