"Hey, wake up."
"..."
"I said, wake up!"
"Mmmm, what?"
Kirsten's eyelids fluttered a couple times before they fully opened. Her parents looked at her disgustedly and her brother looked like he was about to cry. She glanced at her parents and then turned her head away. She didn't want to see their expression. Instead, she focused on her brother.
"Hey, it's ok Zach. I'll call you and you can visit, right?" she reassured him. He nodded helplessly. Kirsten smiled lightly and hugged him tightly. "The judge said, after a few years I'll get out. We'll go rollerblading again then, okay?" He nodded again and hugged her back desperate to hold on to his big sister.
"Okay, that's enough. Hurry up. Your father has work, and I have cleaning to do," Carrie Barker complained. Kirsten didn't even look away from her brother.
"See you later Zach." She got out of the small car and went to the trunk. Out came a bright pink suitcase and a baby blue duffel bag. She swung the bag over her shoulder and wheeled the suitcase over to the gate. Her father and mother watched her uncomftorably.
"You know, if you hadn't done all these stupid dares you wouldn't be here right now," Jake Barker commented. Kirsten shrugged. If she hadn't done the dare she wouldn't have been herself, but she wouldn't say that out loud.
"Well, good bye," she said. Her parents nodded and walked back to the car. Her brother pressed his nose to the window and waved good-bye. Kirsten watched the car leave, and waved back, smiling lightly. When the car was out of sight, she started running in the opposite direction.
How fast could she go on her legs and how far was the next town? She didn't know but she would be damned if she didn't find out. She didn't get far before a few guards spotted her from patrol and caught her instantly. Kirsten spat and clawed and kicked but she knew she had lost. In the end, she just obediently went with them. She would find other chances to sneak away.
All of the paperwork went through, and she was searched. She was supposed to wait to be shown to her cell, but Kirsten was stubborn. She snuck away to the outside and looked around at the walls of her new prison and the fences surrounding it looking for any weaknesses. Hopefully, she would find something useful for later. She sure wasn't staying in this academy for psychos any longer than she was needed too. She wouldn't allow it. She would definitely get out of this place even if it was the last thing she did.
She took a deep breath. She had only been here and it already seemed like she was suffocating. What could she do here? She missed her brother, and her friends. Why the hell was she here?
